Establishing a charge rate for a working artist by Richard Murphy guides artists step-by-step through a methodology for establishing an individual day rate based on their own experience level, realistic number of days that can be worked annually and overheads that are particular to their practice. By providing this simple tool for artists to establish and demonstrate their value and thus a personal day rate, a-n is leading a shift away from the widespread practice within the visual arts of using any quoted minimum fee as a static and often maximum rate of pay for artists.
