CAN.05 has landed on Norwich filling every public space with contemporary art. Large-scale projects are taking place all over the city and into the surrounding county, including international artists commissions at the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts, interventions in the Castle Museums collection, Elizabeth Wrights Norwich Lido and Richard Wentworths responses to the interior of Felbrigg Hall. The highlight is the long established EAST International open competition, this year selected by Gustav Metzger. His aim was to create an art exhibition without any art, where many of the artists use communication technology, online screening and live performance as their medium, to engage with essentially political themes.
