Congratulations to New Work Network, that celebrates ten years as one of the UKs leading arts networking organisations.
Since its inception, NWN has played a key role in the development and promotion of exploratory arts practices across genres. It is the only national organisation to provide artists, producers and curators working in the new work sector with a network and support structures through which to develop their work. It also works in partnership with venues, higher education institutions and other arts organisations to develop their activity in the new work sector. Founded in 1997, NWN is has doubled its membership since January 2007. Although membership is predominantly in the UK, hubs of activity have developed throughout the regions, as well as a number of international projects. Recent funding cuts to the arts are drawing more professionals to alternative support and development services such as NWN, whose website operates on a similar premise to social networking sites such as Facebook. Members can access new ideas and opportunities, facilitates the making of new work and presentation opportunities alongside critical debate, advocacy and professional development.
