The NAN way
Jane Watt outlines the core strengths of NAN and looks to the future.
Over the last three years NAN has developed into a well-established organisation that facilitates networking artists’ networks. It has done this through clear vision that was based on research findings1 an pilot meetings that involved ‘blue sky’ thinking with a lively group of artists from a range of disciplines and career stages, who practice as artists in their own right, as well as being involved in a variety of artist-led groups and activities nationwide. Now, three years on, it is important to recognise the core strengths of NAN – what is important to its success in terms of practical working solutions, as well as its approach and ethos to supporting and facilitating artists’ networking, professional and critical development. This is crucial in order to examine the future direction, scope and sustainability of NAN.
