Sponsored by the Alastair Salvesen Trust in association with the RSA, the Alastair Salvesen Art Scholarship encourages young painters at the point of transition from college to a working environment. Glasgow-based Jackie Anderson was a 2007 winner. with her work After Carnival - Trinidad & Tobago. Celebrating its twentieth anniversary in 200, this painting and travel award of up to £10,000 funds travel for three to six months and includes a solo exhibition at the Royal Scottish Academy. Winners have travelled to China, Eastern Europe, Alaska and the South Seas. Eligible to apply are painters who trained at one of the four main Scottish Art Schools, are currently resident in Scotland, have worked at least three years outside of a college environment and have had work exhibited by a recognised gallery in 2007.
