Chris Fite-Wassilak is winner of the inaugural Curatorial Open a new three-year initiative for emerging curators at post graduate level organised by Hayward Touring. He was chosen for his curatorial proposal 'Quiet Revolution' an international group exhibition of sculptural works created from found or discarded materials. Organised in collaboration with Milton Keynes Gallery and Harris Museum & Art Gallery, Preston, the Curatorial Open programme aims to support UK-based emerging curators in realising innovative contemporary art exhibitions, to offer professional development for the selected curator and provide a new avenue of access into the Hayward Touring programme. Hayward Director Ralph Rugoff said: "Getting a break in the art world is notoriously difficult, even more so when you live outside cultural metropolises such as London". A writer, freelance critic and curator, Fite-Wassilak is the former editor of Dublin-based collaborative comic This Way Up, and a contributor to Frieze, Circa Contemporary Irish Art, and Artforum.com.
