Selected reports on some of the UK’s prizes and awards for artists including cash prizes, solo exhibitions and professional development support.

arc award Given to a creative practitioner to develop new work for a solo exhibition at Aspex, and to support those who wish to push the boundaries of their practice, the Arc award combines a cash award with ongoing pastoral support from the advisers and staff at Arc and Aspex. In 2007 and 2008, the award was limited to designer makers, but in 2009 there are two awards, with the second to be allocated to a fine artist. 2008 recipient designer-artist Karen Ryan is presenting a new site-specific installation at Aspex, 3 February – 15...
