This months movers in the art world.
Amanda Jones who contributed her views on artists to a-ns Future forecast: Outer space in 2006, is moving from Esmée Fairbairn Foundation where she was Programme Director, Arts and Heritage to become the Crafts Councils Director of External Relations. The new Director of Culture at DCMS, replacing Alan Davey, is Mick Elliott who comes from the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic and is Associate Cultural Director of Liverpool Capital of Culture. Sir Christopher Frayling will stand down as RCA Rector in 2009. An Artistic Director is due to be appointed in the near future. Peter Boyden became Dartingtons new Director of Arts in April. The British Council has selected award-winning architecture critic Ellis Woodman to curate the British Pavilion at the 11th Venice Architecture Biennale. Gallery owner Daniel Hug has been appointed Director of Art Cologne; he has been key consultant to the organisers since 2004. John Makinson is the new Chair of Trustees at The Institute for Public Policy Research (ippr), replacing Chris Powell.
