The Yale Center for British Art, which houses the largest and most comprehensive collection of British art outside the UK, has received $415,000 from the Mellon Foundation to support research programmes in the history of British art and culture.
Funds will be used over a three-year period to create a sustainable research programme including exhibition planning workshops, course development, a graduate student seminar and appointment of key research positions.
From 2008-1, the centre plans six international workshops to support development of three exhibitions Contemporary British Ceramics, Edwardian Opulance and A Voyage around Great Britain with a workshop in New Haven and in London for each, allowing participants access to collections and sites of importance to the exhibitions.
