Alongside we also catch up with artists highlighted in our 1998 degrees show publication. Ten years on those artists are still very active in their practice, adapting and developing within a complex arts environment2. This ability to track the progress of artists and their work over time is just one of the benefits of the long-term relationships a-n shares with its constituency. It seems this long view is often missing from the fast-paced, rapid turnover of our news-intense information age. Over many years a-n has built up a wealth of material that provides evidence of the variety of paths taken by artists. The hundreds of profiles and live blogs freely accessible on Artists talking3 demonstrate creative processes as they unfold and the time invested in bringing projects to fruition. In an extension of this we are increasingly exploring paths visual arts graduates take into alternative fields of employment and building up evidence of the patterns of activity for those who work with artists.
