While mainland Europe is dominated by this months UEFA EURO 2008 football championships, our little islands can focus on other matters. For instance, art something were still pretty good at, unlike the footy. In fact, there are those among our legion who claim to be world beaters. The fanfare for Free Range declaims it to be The Worlds Largest Art Happening. Big stats back up the big mouth: One site, eight weeks, sixty exhibitions, 3,000+ graduate artists, forty-five colleges, 150,000 visitors, 400,000sqft of exhibition space. Who needs the football? Alongside European and American artists, British artist Toby Paterson has designed Powder Blue Orthogonal Pavilion for Potters Fields Park, 14 June onwards. In a sense a Trojan Horse, this wooden structure responds to the adjacent, iconic architecture of Tower Bridge, the GLA building and HMS Belfast.
