Students from universities and art colleges across the UK will be travelling to the capital to showcase their work over the summer.
Housed in Brick Lanes Old Truman Brewery one of the largest fairs, Free Range 2008, 30 May 21 July, will feature over 3,000 graduate artists. Now in its eighth year, the fair, which last year attracted 150,000 visitors, provides a platform to showcase the best student talent from across the whole of the UK in design, photography, art, interiors, graphics, illustration, printmaking, product design and textiles. The 2008 participating colleges include those from Brighton, Bournemouth, Nottingham, Manchester, Reading, and Goldsmiths. Each college creates their own tailor-made exhibition as part of the fair, and these rotate over the eight week period in several locations. Entry is free and full details of the exhibitions are available from www.free-range.org.uk Not far away, in Islington, the Business Design Centre is host to New Designers 2008 where around 4,000 newly qualified designers present their work to the public, hoping for sales, commissions and to launch their career.
