I have recently completed a PhD Thesis entitled: The Role of the Artist and the Influences of Patronage in Site-Specific Art. It was based in practice and involved conducting 3 public art projects. They were the BT/Cellnet, Farnham Library Garden and Picnic projects. However, ethical considerations differed considerably within the context of these projects. The comments and actions of the individuals involved were recorded in diaries and although they were made aware of the nature of these projects, their names, together with any personal details of these people were omitted. There were exceptions, namely the students, who freely engaged in the Farnham Library Garden and Picnic projects. They were made aware that their artwork, which they had sole property rights over, would be recorded and used in this thesis. Although, no personal details, apart from their names, nationalities and course details, were mentioned. Additionally, the seven students involved in the Picnic project signed an agreement, which allowed them to withdraw from the project at any time without needing to justify their decision and without prejudice, but none of them did.
