Yes, I definitely believe that art should be subject to ethical regulation. Several bad instances of abuse of animals, birds and insects come to mind in shows that I have visited. These include live frogs hopping around on a dark stage at the ICA, amongst actors who were running amongst them, and could not see them, snails that had been killed for use in an exhibition at Brighton Museum & Art Gallery, and live birds that had been 'used' at Milton Keynes Art Gallery, some of which must have died horrible deaths. Our society already condones and encourages the massacre of animals and birds on a vast scale, in abattoirs. Artists should give a better example by not following suit.
