At the end of another exceptional year for a-n The Artists Information Company, we are taking stock of some of the key milestones for artists this year, as well as forecasting for the climate in which artists might expect to be working in the next decade.
The last twelve months have seen some of the most challenging economic times for all, and the ensuing cuts in available funds for artists that has meant. In this issue we highlight a selection of material that usefully explores issues affecting artists' income. On a longer term look into the future, you may want to firstly take a look back at a-n's Future Forecast series, published in 2006 as part of the company's 25 year celebrations. The publications and associated think-tanks raised questions and stimulated and focused discussions on the pros and cons of future support frameworks and expectations for artists. The overall aim was to keep artists' developing practice high on the agenda.
With this double issue we are once again delighted to present a-n's Directory of art services 2010, a key reference for artists and arts professionals. Finally, we are delighted to announce that AIR membership has reached 13,000, a clear indication of practitioners' desire to be part of a professional body that represents the needs and interests of artists.
