From 2009, Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation is changing its funding strategy to support innovative ideas and unusual partnerships across its cultural, educational and social interests. Open to application, the new Innovation Programme aims to support fewer organisations with larger amounts of money. Partnerships and activities will be supported from one to four years. The three key issues for funding are Cultural understanding - encouraging understanding between people of different cultures; Fulfilling potential - assisting individuals, especially the vulnerable, to fulfil their potential and contribute to society; and Environment - protecting and caring for the environment. Launching the new plan, Director Andrew Barnett said: "We have undertaken a review of our operation and the pressing issues that affect society.
