"Wanted: artwork for unfunded exhibition. No funds available for travel, material or equipment expenses or artists' fees. Artists will supply all fittings, fixtures, furniture, provide their own publicity, handle their own sales (if any) and buy their own insurance. Artists will get free Yorkshire tea." It is difficult to see why any artist would answer a call-out that was so frank about its lack of resources. But lots did. And the result is 'Temporary Art Show', a fifteen-person group show on the theme of temporary, co-directed by artists Alice Bradshaw, Bob Milner, Tom Senior, Kevin Boniface and Georgia Boniface. It is the first monthly exhibition of six to take place in Temporary Art Space, a formerly empty retail lot in Halifax's historic market building Piece Hall. Temporary Art Space knowingly lays its DIY ethic bare. It is unashamedly thrifty, here today, gone tomorrow, and initiated by a group of friends who just want to show their work.
