Contemporary Art Societys latest initiative, the Annual Award for Museums, will provide £60,000 to one of its museum members to fund a new commission by a contemporary artist in response to their permanent collection.
Funded by the Sfumato Foundation, The Award will be selected by a panel of internationally acclaimed artists including Martin Boyce, Rosalind Nashashibi and Olivia Plender and announced at the Contemporary Art Society Annual Reception in November. www.contemporaryartsociety.org The Jerwood Drawing Prize aims to promote and reward excellence and talent in contemporary drawing practice through the support and recognition of the work of established and emerging artists in the field of drawing. The annual exhibition is open to all artists resident or domiciled in the UK. Drawings are chosen from open submission by an independent panel of three selectors who typically represent the perspectives of practitioner, curator and writer - this year's panel is Tania Kovats, artist; Roger Malbert, Senior Curator, Hayward Touring Exhibitions, South Bank Centre; and Nicholas Usherwood, writer, art critic and curator. Four awards will be made including First Prize of £6,000; Second Prize of £3,000; and two Student Awards of £1,000 each.
