If youre a maker with a portfolio practice, applying your craft skills and knowledge in different roles, projects and settings whod willing to see your work profiled in a major national research project that aims to influence future support for craft, then the Crafts Council wants to hear from you.
Making value is a national research project to explore the value added by craft makers to the UK's economy and to investigate the social value of makers' work in education, health and community settings. Together, these two elements will help to create a clear picture of the craft sector's worth which the Crafts Council can use to inform their future work. A key element of the research will be interviews with makers pursuing a portfolio practice, alongside interviews with the organisations with which they work and the agencies that provide them with support. Of particular interest are craft makers working in sectors including - but not limited to - film, fashion, tourism and leisure and/or education, health and community settings. Examples include those who design or make sets or props for theatre, fashion shoots, film or television, or create events or festivals, run craft holidays, or design for high street retailers. From carnival to gaming and design, the Crafts Council is interested in any area where craft-based creativity finds an outlet.
