UK/OK: Exploring Traditions in Contemporary Design [ 31 March 2009 ]
Price Tower Arts Center, Bartlesville, Oklahoma, is currently seeking artists and designers working in the areas of handmade design and “high craft” for a 2009 exhibition. UK/OK: Exploring Traditions in Contemporary Design will pair contemporary British designers with those working in Oklahoma. Emanating from a curiosity of cross-cultural comparisons, UK/OK will examine contemporary British and Oklahoman designers through the lens of “traditions” – in technique, materials, and motives. The focus of the exhibition will be the recent resurgence in hand crafted design. A select list of British designers working over the past decade will be balanced with an equally select list of Oklahoma artists representing the breadth of education/training, ethnicities, and diverse regions of creativity in the state.
