Spike Island Associates programme [ 27 June 2011 ]

Spike Island’s Associates programme offers 24-hour access to a shared base in the building with  IT and reprographic facilities, a comprehensive art library, access to opportunities and a network of peers. The culture of the programme is centred around practice, production, dissemination and collaboration. There are regular group trips, peer critique sessions and discussion groups. Members can suggest speakers for talks and studio visits. A weekly e-bulletin details opportunities and provides a platform to member artists. Travel bursaries are available to members based in the south west, and there is a modest project fund.

Rootstein Hopkins Artist’s Award 2010 [ 3 September 2010 ]

Since 2007 the Rootstein Hopkins Foundation has granted Spike Island generous funding to support a major new award. This award includes a commissioning fee and a solo show in one of the galleries at Spike Island in 2011. Proposals can be specific or open ended, they must outline why this is the right moment and opportunity for the artist by contextualising their proposed work within their wider practice. the panel want to be inspired by ideas and convinced that the candidate will be able to follow them through whilst also allowing space for the work to develop over time.  Read full listing…
