Glasgow Independent Studio and Project Room is a non-profit making charity based in the city centre location of Trongate in Glasgow. The organisation comprises of a large studio complex and contemporary art exhibition and project space. The studio was established in 1995 to support and educate in the visual arts through provision of working spaces for artists in Glasgow. The project space began in 1997 to promote the artists' work. It now continues to operate as a key space for innovative and challenging exhibitions by both resident and non-resident artists. Exhibitions and collaborations change every two weeks on a specialist project basis. The complex is on the top floor of a tenement-style factory building, looking to the south and east side of Glasgow. Located in close proximity to spaces such as Transmission, lntermedia, Free, Street Level, WASPS and Glasgow Print Studio, the Glasgow Independent Studio and Project Room is an established venue in the Glasgow's artscene.

The Glasgow Independent Studio ‘Leapfrog opportunity’ has been created by the members to enable a new graduate member to leapfrog not only the studio waiting list, but also the normal studio members’ protocol and be given an opportunity to rent a marvellously big and bright south-facing studio space for one whole year! Note that the final responsibilities for the successful Leapfrog Opportunity recipient will be agreed after selection, in consultation with a small group from the current membership.
