3D Printing Design Challenge
WHO: anyone.
WHAT: MakerBot and the New Museum announce a unique art-meets-tech 3D design challenge. The competition aims to showcase the endless possibilities of the Thing-O-Matic; a 3D printer for personal manufacturing. The challenge looks at all sorts of objects, from the banal toothbrush to complex bicycle gears. The jurors are looking for designs that utilize the unique ability of 3D printing to personalize and improve on the world around us.
PAYMENTS: the winning design will be printed on a MakerBot displayed in the New Museum Store's window and will win a MakerBot Thing-O-Matic Kit, deluxe membership to the New Museum and a special invitation to the New Museum MakerBot Challenge launch party. Five runner-ups will have their designs printed by MakerBot and sent to them.
