WHAT: Leeds College of Art has played a central role in providing specialist education in art, design and crafts for more than 150 years and has a national and international reputation based on the achievements of past students. The institute now wants to encourage children to study Art and Design from an early age and help them realise that, in the long term, there are a wide range of future careers and opportunities in Art and Design. To this end a Children’s Art School is being launched to target children (9-18 years) to apply for HE and FE programmes. This will be a fee paying provision run on a Saturday morning and during school holidays. Tutors are now sought to assist in developing and teaching Mixed Media Sculpture, Fashion & Textiles, 2D Drawing and Printmaking and Portfolio Development. Initially, post holders will be working on a fixed-term contracts for 8 Saturday mornings. If the venture proves successful then additional classes are likely to run in the future (subject to enrolments).
