During September I will be Artist of the Month at the Minories Shop in the Minories Galleries, Colchester.  I will have on show a number of paintings and prints as well as my new collection of scarves and soft furnishings inspired by my paintings.

In addition to being  September Artist of the Month in The Minories Shop I am taking part in ‘Watercolour Now’ at The Sentinel Gallery, Wivenhoe From 3rd – 25th September,  where I have a number of paintings on paper on show.

I am an artist who responds to chance patterns that appear with light and reflections. My paintings explore these effects on architecture, those momentary glimpses of shapes that occur on windows or as shadows on the structures creating a fascinating disturbance to the surfaces.

After many drawings of the subject, I use the patterns I discover within these drawings to create a unique view of a building.  As these shapes join with the structure, buildings take on a new appearance.  I then use acrylic washes to develop the background of each painting allowing the layers of colour to blend and separate.  I manipulate this combination of accidental abstract colour to influence surface onto which I carefully paint the structural ‘drawing’.   I have recently begun to print my architectural paintings onto scarves.  Using their colour and shapes to the best effect it makes the paintings accessible and an exclusive accessory.

My paintings have been selected for exhibition in London with the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours, Lynn Painter-Stainers Prize, Royal Watercolour Society, New English Art Club, ING Discerning Eye and in galleries and exhibitions in East Anglia.
