A blog telling of the stresses of the last semester of my glass degree at The University of Wolverhampton!

Let me fill you in on where I am at the moment…

I am in my final semester at The University of Wolverhampton studying Glass – which I love!

I am currently working on two pieces to go into the Glass Biennale in August (Part of the International Festival of Glass)

One is a large scale kiln cast sculptural piece which is a solid block with void details around the edge (images to be posted once its done!)

The second is a smaller triangular piece in which I plan to use Gaffer casting crystal in steel blue, grey and clear to create a fading tonal effect.

So, after a MENTAL week last week in the studios everything seems to be going to plan this week! I finally have my large scale piece as a mould, which is now drying and should be going into the kiln on Friday…exciting stuff!

And the second will, as of tomorrow, be in wax form in order to make the mould and put it in the kiln Monday!

So should these pieces both come out of the kiln well, I will have to cold work and photograph them in order to complete my application before the end of March… the pieces are also going to be shown at New Designers 2010 and our University Degree show! Details of these will follow!

Think thats all for now!

Thanks for reading

Charlotte
