In July 2017 I completed the Coaching course, funded by a-n and delivered by RD1st Coaches Deb Barnard and Emma Haughton. So, what is Coaching and what does it offer to artists in particular?

As a group we grappled with a definition and I recall we settled on something like this; a set of structured skills and tools designed to help identify clear goals for change in a professional or personal setting. The models used in Coaching are generic and transferable to most situations that require clarity.

For the artist who feels blocked, or the artist who is swamped by ideas and uncertain how to proceed, Coaching offers a way forward. Completing our Coaching training as a group of practicing artists we discovered the transformative potential of this model. Individually, I came away with a new set of skills and a new sense of direction for my arts practice.

At the start of 2018 I am keen to further develop my Coaching practice. I am offering a-n members free coaching sessions via Skype, messenger or mobile as I am keen to build up my experience. I am an accredited Coach (thanks to a-n and RD1st) and am currently co-facilitating group coaching workshops in the Peak District alongside the individual coaching sessions that I deliver.

So, what is Coaching? Pretty amazing really!
