Every Story Tells a Story was conceived 8 years ago with another exhibition – The Crusade- in – between realities, a joint project with another artist, under different sky.A few years later, with fresh stories piling, a quote by Umberto  Eco came at the right time to me- it says the obvious in a most simple and beautiful way…that every story tells a story that has already been told..Taking this statement as the main starting point has  helped me to “explain” my urge to  always get back to different sources and narratives, in my life, or around me.

I invited Sharon Haward, a long time a-n community  member, to join. Her experience in “adopting” places and, in her own words, “inserting meaning” in the existing thick meaning  of a place, is vital for this project.

Sharon has already started a blog, where she writes about finding her way , her sources, her stories to tell. It is not easy, starting at different stages. However in her last blog I found one crusial object of inspiration for both of us – The Bayeux Tapestry. I have seen the copy of it in the Reading museum. The great story it tells us, the way it tells it, the imagery, moves me deeply  in different ways. Some of my work for the project takes it roots in  its  horizontal composition and the medieval way to express and “tell”the important events of the time.I have been creating  mixed  media figurative cut- outs which in their way will tell another story.

I hope the “triangular “conversation between the space in the old barracks The Keep, Reading, me and Sharon, will develop gradually and turn into strong visual presentation.
