This ambitious exhibition attracted artists and creatives to explore the old derelict house of Plas Bodfa under the theme of multiples and create artwork in response to this.

I created a drawing installation in a room of the house from drawings made from outside the house. I made these drawings whilst walking repetitively around the outside of the house focusing on three different aspects –  the external building and architectural features, the gardens and grounds the house sits in and the larger views of the surrounding landscape.

The commonplace activity of walking allows for an altered state of awareness, a walking meditation where the views shift and merge as I use mark making techniques to capture the essence of what I see.  From these drawings I created a series of large drawings on fabric which I was able to install before lock down, they were suspended from the ceiling in one of the rooms in the house. These fabric drawings are hung in a way that people can walk through and around them, the fabric creating a juxtaposition with the rigidity of the structure of the room and view from the windows. The original drawings are displayed on the walls along side multiple drawings on fabric mounted on wood, framed as part of the Plas Bodfa Object. It was envisaged that this installation would allow visitors to experience the space in context with its external character, its gardens and where it sits in the world.

Transformed by the global pandemic Unus Multorum is now within the digital realm, with artwork being experienced online via videos, photographs, live tours and interviews at https://www.plasbodfa.com/projects
