i’ve ben keeping an annual blog long enough now to know that i take pride in having at least one post per month.

in this month of june 2016 there is much to consider and reflect upon.

it’s the anniversary of my forest school journey beginning.  a year ago i nervously stepped into a small room in a park and started to make friends.  a year on i’m waiting to hear about my passing the qualification (as after all positive thinking is the way forward).  the year of training was an adventure into discovery and confidence building.  as i commence year 2 my practice is growing in confidence each time i go outside to a session.

this month of june 2016 has seen me begin my steam powered maker residency at the derby silk mill.  after a long period where my creative practice took a back seat to my forest school training i’m enjoying reconnecting to my making practice.  the derby silk mill is in a period of re-imagining itself and i have found an opportunity to re-imagine the snee snaw, 5 years after it’s funded inception.

i’ve been keeping a separate blog about the residency and i’m looking forward to adding another post there soon.

in june 2016 i’ve lived through a reforendum.  it’s only a few days since the result and i think the result was the one least expected and there seems to be a certain amount of trying to work out what to do with the hot potato.

in june 2016 i began a mindfulness mooc on future learn dot com.  mindfulness has been a missing link in my personal development.  the course is helping me to be in the moment and harness the potential of my ability to think.  so very often the streams of thinking lead me to areas of thought that really are not very productive.  practising mindfulness helps me to filter the outside world.

practising mindfulness : remember the past, plan for the future, be in the present.  being in the present involves formal practice including meditative periods and informal mindfulness that can be done almost anywhere at anytime.    practising mindfulness is helping me to reduce my stress and anxiety which is in turn helping me to be more productive at home, in my residency and in my forest school practice.

what will july bring ?
