London, July 2015

Diana Bracewell, of Alverthorpe, exhibiting under the name Hoshi Dee, has been granted the opportunity to exhibit three of her works in the Exhibit Here – Summer Exhibition in Southwark, Central London.

Originally from London, the 34-year-old artist has called Wakefield home for the last 11 years. Indeed, although her initial art education took place at The Slade, London, it is Wakefield’s thriving arts scene that has been pivotal in Hoshi’s burgeoning career as an artist.

“It is great to have the chance to exhibit my work in my home-city, London, but I love Wakefield, the close-knit community feel, with a smattering of city hustle and bustle, and the lush countryside never more than a short drive away. I am acutely aware that I owe Wakefield thanks for being a huge inspiration for my work.”

Hoshi has exhibited in various venues in Wakefield and extended her reach to include York, Leeds and Hull. London will be her furthest venture yet. Her work is unusual in that she uses paint pens to draw with paint, “draint”, her coined term. This method allows for clarity of line whilst enjoying depth of colour.

She will be exhibiting a set of three pieces entitled Dawn, Day and Dusk, colourful bodyscapes set on black backgrounds. The works are somewhat reminiscent of the rolling hills of the Yorkshire Dales she enjoys walking in when she has spare time.
