Dear colleagues,

I hope you are well.

Last year my family and I moved to England to live.

Back in 2013 after finishing a Masters degree, Caroline ‘the love of my life’ Peña Bray, despite only having visited Colombia once before and speaking no Spanish at all, took the big step of moving to Bogotá with me. We worked, studied, payed off the student loan, had two beautiful children, completed an art residency and got a full time job at a University. We enjoyed a wonderful life with our family and friends and we have been supported so well by our collectors and work associates too. However, the time had come for me to reciprocate with that initial leap of faith and together we took the decision to move to England with the family and it is here that we start our next chapter together.

We are with family in Lincoln, in the middle of the country, near Nottingham. Caroline and I have started a new and exciting design project which will be revealed soon. As ever, with any new project the groundwork takes time and we are both investing care and love to come up with the best initiative that we can.

I have set up a new studio in which I am working hard producing artworks for my next individual exhibition which will be held in Nueveochenta; inaugurated on September 30 2021 titled The Hot and Cloudy Atmosphere of a Quiet Sun. Based on astrophysical phenomena, the new works comprise a new series of paintings on paper. The explosion of a massive star, the remnants of a supernova and the sun viewed in x-rays are some of the subject matters to be found in this proposal. Having spent years representing light that is visible to the naked human eye, I have set myself the challenge of portraying invisible light. During the unusual times of lockdown when everyone has been looking inwards, the art is inviting us to look up beyond the stars.

I am looking to get to know or reconnect with people in England or Europe. I am also interested in new opportunities to show my work outside of Colombia, if you have any ideas on how this could be possible, please let me know.

We shall continue working hard in the coming months as restrictions are eased and life gets back to normal. We will be sending some more updates on art and life in the coming months, thank you for your time.
