Our poster for the Degree show. It’s all set up now and ready to go, everyone’s work looks amazing and it’s incredible to think this is the end of the the three year journey we have all been on. I’ve developed my work and myself so much and the course has given me confidence and more understanding of fine art and producing work of my own into that crazy arena.
I’m so excited for the show on thursday, eveybody has worked so hard and it has been brilliant to see how everybody has developed, not just myself. It has been a long journey for all of us and i have been lucky to have spent it with a great bunch of people who, while coming from all different backgrounds, all have a love for art.

Finally, after a hell of a lot of work and preparation, my degree show space is set up. I am shattered and dead on my feet but it is well and truly worth it. I am so pleased with the final look of my area, it’s only really come together in the last few days and because i have been doing most of my work from home, no one had really seen any of my work bar a few photographs. It’s been reassuring getting people’s feedback today, although I’ve been pleased with the work I’ve produced, it’s still helpful to get feedback from my peers.
I think my space has a real impact as you go into it and I’m hoping both the tutors doing the assessment and the viewers that visit the show over the next two weeks, can enjoy and understand it and appreciate the hard work and care that has gone into it.

Took me so long to work out how to fix my acrylic pictures to the wall even though they had come with wall mounts. In the end one of the other students explained it to me, so after grabbing an electronic screwdriver, some fittings and other bits and pieces and I was ready to go.
I think the four acrylic pictures finish off my space nicely, i intend to put my information on the wall space between my wallpaper and the acrylics so my display is like an installation one side and the collages on the other. i would have loved to have got more of these printed off to display as i think the perspex is the best way to display them. It was hard to pick which ones i would finally display and ideally i would have liked eight of them but they were quite expensive to get produced and my funds are pretty limited at the moment.

The dolls house in front of the wallpaper, i chose to display this on my greatgrandma’s table which is the age of the era i was going for with the wallpape. I think it looks great and the mirrored tiles inside it reflect the wallpaper through the gap in the back and that makes the middle shelf look like it disappears.

Hung the mirror in the middle of the covered wall and i think it looks pretty impressive. It is just the right height for people to catch their own eye in it as they walk past.

To finish it off my Kiss model on a borrowed plinth that is another students work but seeing as most of my work has been created with found objects even to the fact that the collage material is taken from another source, it only seems right that the object i displayed on was found too.

That section together has changed it from separate pieces of work and into an installation. I don’t think it could have got any closer to the original ideaz i had at the start and i amvery happy with it, just hope everyone else is!

First sheet up, love it, I really do. I now have to cut the white edge off the other five rolls so i can line them all up as the printer left a 3mm gap at the side, which was unavoidable as it was the widest possible printer margin. Back downstairs with a craft knife and a lot of hope that I don’t cock up my lovely wallpaper as I am not the best at cutting. Last time i tried anything was foam board for labels and ended up destroying most of it.

Manage to do it, thankfully. Second strip now up with some help from friends as I can’t go up and down the ladder, glad they put up with my exating instructions as I have become a bit of a perfectionist towards the end of this project.

Third strip up, lining up the images is hard work, as is keeping it straight but I’m getting there and it’s looking more and more effective the more that goes up.

All six strips up, I’m really pleased, it’s really impressive and it is hard to see from the photos the full effect it has when you first see it. the strips are 2.3m high and covers 3.66m in length so it is quite an immediate effect on the viewer. My plan is finally coming into place and it is working out as i had planned which is very satisfying and also a great weight off my mind as it has been stressing me somehting chronic.

Just a few last air bubbles to push out and as the material is so easy to use, I could peel it up from the bottom and sort them out. The phototext fabric paper is one of the easiest things I’ve ever ued and what makes it even better is that when it comes to dismantling it all, I can put it on the backing paper and re use it if I want to. Overall it took about an hour and a half to hang the six strips and i have a feeling if i had used normal wallpaper i would have ended up wrapped in it myself and in tears!
