Trying to squeeze some time for the project. I have to admit its not that easy at the moment. Still, I need to keep on going…Below are some samples of work. Pencil on the cel protection paper (!). There no need for more annotation at the moment.
the last part of the interviewing process took place over a month ago. Below are the lovely people who agreed to take part.
Continued with my interviews in Glasgow’s East End. Met some really interesting people and got some great recordings with the help of my friend Beverly.
Above is Victoria and Craig from the wee funky vintage shop near Saltmarket. Below is Lorraine and wee Matt sharing some heart felt stories at the Empire bar.
Lisa from Melle Cloche, the shop with the amazing wedding dresses in merchant city and Sean, the photographer at Super Bario, at King Street.
Below is Mohammad at Mexita take away at Gallowgate, Amin from Western Wear on High Street and Craig at Guitar Guitar Digital at Trongate. A big thank you to everyone for their kind participation in this project.
Just started experimenting with the style of the animation). The animation will be of an experimental style and will be mostly hand-drawn. There will be a voice over of different women talking about their experience in love. This soundtrack will be juxtaposed with the artist’s presence through mark making. It will be a project about balances and imbalances, about the personal and the public, about longing and fear, about love… At the time being, the idea is to make the drawings sketchy yet dynamic, bursting with colour and textures. They will be following a woman’s symbolic path to love. Below is a first test of a sketchy walk. I am happy with the general quality but this is only 8 drawings and the initial sketch-phase rather than the actual end-project in process.
Started the interview process. Talked to Beverly, Amy and Caitlin. A cynicism in relation to the subject became apparent. Some women found it hard to express themselves on the subject and kept on apologising for it. Despite this, there were also some moments when I could observe the longing to connect and live the fairy tale dream of romantic love. Some other women I approached did not want to take part in the project. They said they were the wrong person for this as they had just far too many disappointments in the area.
