The Kettle’s Yard Gallery is situated in Cambridge and is associated with the University of Cambridge.  Kettle’s Yard is unique in that it is  both a museum and a gallery.  It has a fantastic website which I will write about in another blog, but how else does the Kettle Yard create a larger audience, one way is the use of Instagram.  On reviewing there Instagram pages I was impressed in how much information is packed in onto one account.  Kettle’s Yard uses the Instagram well with different pages covering different subjects and topics.  These pages are accessed via the main Instagram page.

Instagram: Title Kettlesyard…

  • As in all Instagram accounts the top of the page is a statement/bio of the user.  Kettle’s Yard is succinct in its writing and establishes straight away what it is, a ‘House and gallery of contemporary and modern art and music.’
  • This is followed by its website address which you can access immediately via Instagram.
  • Even before you click to enlarge the images it has the appearance of colourful patchwork quilt, which for myself had me eager to start scrolling through its numerous images.
  • For the statistics Kettle’s Yard has posted 1,670 images.  It has 54.7k followers and follows 1,169 pages.
  • It posts on average every few days and on average posts between 1 – 3 images at a time.
  • On average each post has 600 plus likes with an average of 10 plus comments per post.
  • The postings on the main page are a mix of still images and videos, with approximately 60% still images and 40% video’s.
  • The postings on the  main page are a mix of artworks, exhibition announcements, up coming events etc.
  • There are 32 extra pages that can be accessed via the main Instagram page.  Each page covers different subjects example the PebbleChallenge.

I now follow Kettle Yard’s Instagram account.  It is one of the best accounts I have seen.  They have so many different resources accessible through there main page that I will review at a later date.  Since looking at Kettle Yard site I have started to research exactly what does Instagram have to offer.  I didn’t realise how much it actually offers other then the initial account you sign up with.  I think my technological phobia is beginning to dissipate.
