I’m back home, back to normal life and getting on with all the things I have planned for this year. It’s very easy to loose the feeling of being part of a different culture and get back to your old ways, though you might have good intentions it’s hard to keep in touch with China when you’re not there because it’s just a whole other world. I miss my friends and I miss the food. I miss speaking and hearing Chinese and being part of C-Platform. I miss all the stuff that happens on the streets: selling stuff, buying stuff, hanging around, drinking tea, chatting, doing business, playing cards, eating… In Britain it was all tidied away a long time ago.
I have just a few more pictures to share with you from Xiamen, before my blog also goes back to the western ways. First are some more photos from the Open Coil exhibition and salon. These are the official pictures that Yi Yi took and it’s nice to have them documented somewhere online.
And these are pictures from my Distorted View exhibition at Nothing Gallery which was on for one night only, just a few days before I left. Tianyu who helps Yuping to run the Nothing Gallery met with me the day after and interviewed me and filmed it. She did a very good job of researching me and asked me interesting questions. She’s going to edit it and make it into a little film so I’ll keep you posted on that one.
