Sporting League Game 27

All the big guns had a successful day, particularly leaders Universo who got themselves back on track with a win over Lunderbach…Sporting radio pundit Y: ‘I saw you in the paper the other day walking out of the bookies on Maarshelve road -any luck?’

Pundit X: ‘Nah, I don’t think that’s anyone’s business. I can say that I got myself a bit of the ol’ bubbly in last night to go with the beans on toast though.’

Pundit Y: ‘I’ve heard that the Bayerns coach who you’ve been cosying up to of late likes a bit of the ol’ bubbly as well, hangin’ around the Pacifica casino’s.’

‘Oh aye, the casino’s…when did you last hear of me doing that scene. Come on lets get on with the show. Right…Athletico…’

Sporting League: Game 26

Novia came back from a goal down against leaders Universo to subject their opponents to their second defeat of the season. Sporting Radio Pundit X: ‘That’s made things pretty interesting hasn’t it? I mean look, Universo were coasting in the first half but seemed to lose their nerve at the mid point in the second. It might just be that old experience won the game this evening. It was majestic stuff from the yellows. Still, Universo laid on a good spread for us pundits – lets just say that I nearly slept through the alarm this morning…you may have had to cope without your no1 sports correspondent.’

Pundit Y: ‘Well it wouldn’t have been the first time that I’d filled in for you would it eh?’

Sporting League: Game 25

Green Tree edged themselves out of the relegation zone after a one goal to nil hard fought triumph over fallen stars Delta

Sporting Radio Pundit Y: ‘Well I was out last night doing a talk at the Delta Conservative club, and was really pleased with the set up over there. I just think they need to look at the grass roots again. It’s always difficult to work out exactly why they haven’t managed to show any of the form that made them dominant in the early noughties. Mind you, they do a good buffet down there and they sent me home in the ol’ limo, so I don’t have any complaints about the hospitality.’

Novia all but said goodbye to their title hopes after a defeat against fellow contenders and rivals Yop Lane. Novia boss: ‘We were very tired out there, in fact abject if you like? We threw away a two goal home advantage and just seemed to lose heart after the Yoppites put one past us. I’m expecting a strong run in now, and hope we can concentrate on our own game and wait for other results to work in our favour. I’m well peeved man.’

Universo were too strong for the Olby with a three goals to one win.

Sporting radio Pundit X: ‘Can’t believe Olby are down in tenth place – how’d that happen eh? The Yoppites were taught a thing or two by the Olby old guard. I’m still struggling to understand why they didn’t stick with their youth policy down there.’
