Wired Magazine commissioned UK based designer/ activist artist Heath Kane to create multiple images for its latest edition to mark being awarded ‘Magazine of the year’. The special edition is edited by Russian activist pop band Pussy Riot and designed by award winning agency Pitis.

Kane’s playful images build on the success of his best selling ‘Rich Enough to be Batman’ and ‘Masks of Fear’ collection, a series of vivid images lampooning and commenting on the rise of strongman leaders like Donald Trump, Vladimar Putin and Kim Jong-un.

“I’ve always been where art meets design intersect,” says Kane. “To think like a designer while executing like an artist. My goal is to make pieces that stand up on their own as works of art, while delivering a powerful, subversive and often subtle message. It has the potential to have a far bigger impact there than it might say among all the street art in Shoreditch. It is all about staying on the edge: not selling out on what I believe in, while not being too preachy or obvious.”

About Heath Kane

Kane Heath is an Australian born award winning designer with over twenty five (25) years experience working for some of the largest and world leading advertising, brand and digital agencies. Since 2014 Kane has crossed over and established himself into an artist. Now turning his attention back to art, his debut collection draws inspiration from his commercial art background and origins of urban art – a blend of design and art.

His approach follows the practice of design thinking, with a focus on creating simple, iconic and memorable pieces that have the ability to tell stories and are linked to a larger narrative. Within the often lurid color artwork he tries to distill subtle but often subversive themes.
All collections are limited edition.
