ForumArts is visiting Denise Bryan during her exhibition at Central Space Gallery where she will be presenting The Mirror Hall and other Berlin stories on June 1st at 6.30pm.

Artist Denise Bryan will talk about the work that she made whilst carrying out a residency in Berlin which resulted in her returning in 2014 to create a site specific installation in the Pavillon am Milchhof.
In this talk, part performative lecture, the artist will give you an insight into the research and development process of a large scale project and the difficulties of creating work in a foreign country and how a residency can change your practice and lead to new works, In addition she will give you some insight into how the work has changed now that it has been re-sited in Central Space Gallery.

About the Exhibition.

Assembly
This series of exhibitions of sculptural installations has been curated by artists and lecturer Denise Bryan. It is an opportunity to bring works made by three London based artists, Denise Bryan, Joanna Sands and Silvina Soria. Both Bryan and Sands studied sculpture in London and have shown extensively throughout the UK and internationally. Soria studied sculpture in Buenos Aires and now lives and works in London, her work has been exhibited widely both in Argentina and Europe.
The three installations to be shown are large scale and share certain formal qualities; all the pieces are assembled from separate elements or units. By using this method of construction the exhibiting artists create a kind of spatial geometry to explore their ideas. Each installation has been created as a site-specific work, the first two exhibitions in the series are pieces that are being given a second life in the Central Space; the third installation has been created specifically for the Central Space.

Der Spiegelsaal, 19 Princelet and Rooting, each ask questions about how sculpture relates to the architecture in which it is placed and how site-specific installations can be transformed when they are recreated in alternative spaces.
