Thr title of this exhibitio is derived from a comment made by the physicist Wolfgang Pauli to describ a theory so wrong as to be beyond the pale.'Dast ist nicht einmal falsch' (not even wrong). My reason for parahrasing this condemnation has to do with the notion that geometry and geometric forms (in any dimensions) can be realised only in the purity of mathematical equations, and that any visual representations will only be an approximation of these concepts. As these paintings are based on the geometry of the Golden Section / Mean, the choice may seem paradoxical, but to me signifies only a different interpretation that a particular construct is able to occupy.Outside of this mathematical rhetoric stands a geometry which can be found in nature and has informed the visual arts, painters, architects and sculptors for millennia. A tradition in which I have tentatively dipped my brush.Anthony Currell. May 2008
