Microworld : Arcadia is a ‘living’ art space in the heart of Cardiff, filled with magical projections, robots and electronic sounds, which will grow, transform and evolve in response to visitor activity. The gallery will be filled with projects which will interact with the audience, other projects, and whatever else is happening in the space. Over the course of the show new pieces will be introduced, modified and rearranged (the audience can also add in their own crazy creatures). Some creatures will struggle, some will thrive. Not even the creators know what will happen next. The show is one big experiment. Microworld : Arcadia will be populated with Genetic Moo’s fantastical human-hybrid creatures including Starfish, Sea Squirts and the Squidlets. Tine Bech’s three luminescent bugs change colour as you move around them. Sean Clark’s Whale captures video memories of what it sees, building up waves of imagery over time and Wendy Keay-Bright’s Somantic apps provide intuitive interaction. A generative sound-scape composed by Julia Schauerman, will fill the pace. Robots will enter the world care of Paul Granjon, Sean Olsen and Jane Webb. Jockel Leiss, Alexandros Kontogeorgakopoulos and Stefan Samocuik will create live audio-visual compositions. Art for the 21st Century!
