October 2018: Hedera Felix CIC published their first magazine in the Mycelia series (Mycelia 001). Aye Write!, an annual book festival in Glasgow initiated in 2005, have invited Hedera Felix to present as part of a free set of events during their 2019 edition.

The hour long session, running from 3-4pm on Saturday 16 March 2019, will feature a series of short readings from six authors published in Mycelia 001 (Olive M Ritch, Ever Dundas, Ely Percy, Jelle Cauwenberghs, Jenny Lancaster-Symington, Dan Pietersen), along with punctuating ‘host-like’ performances from visual artist Charlotte Arnhold.

The core Hedera Felix team is Pamela Clark, Simone Hutchinson and Richard Taylor. The Aye Write! event will conclude with a ‘reading game’, taken from Taylor’s previous experience facilitating workshops in creative writing and spoken word practice. Attendees are invited to bring along their favourite sci-fi and weird fiction, to join in with the game – which will involve a throwing of words across the room, and experiments in interruption of voice to build up a chorus of reading in the form of collaborative performance.

All joyous and weirdness will be happening in the Blysthwood Room on floor 5 of The Mitchell Library, near Charing X in Glasgow. Turn up beforehand to grab a raffle ticket to enter the free event (with a chance to win some sci-fi/speculative fiction/weird fiction), browse a range of author material, and get your hands on a copy of Mycelia 001.

OR buy a copy of Mycelia 001 in advance and get to know the authors before you attend.

ACCESS: there is lift access to floor 5 at The Mitchell Library. Some of the performances will include elements of sound; please get in touch with us in advance if you have special requirements and we will do our best to meet access needs. [email protected]
