‘Not All Black and White’ is an exhibition of prints spanning the last three years, taking in various projects with the common thread of using black, the white of the paper and red. If all other colours disappeared overnight it would be a crying shame, but I would get over it, shockingly quickly. It’s hard to put into words the power that this trio creates which is possibly why I don’t really need to be explaining it. I should simply fill the gallery and throw open the doors and if you like what you see then we have a common aesthetic. If you don’t like what you see, either you don’t like my work which is absolutely fine, or you do like my work but red wouldn’t be your first choice. Can you see I’ve so far left out black in this scenario, primarily because the colour black is non- negotiable, if you don’t like red it’s not a deal breaker, but if you don’t like black then we can never be friends. I hope you understand and we can part on good terms in the knowledge that it was never to be, and I hope that there will be artists, friends and lovers out there for you who dislike black just as passionately as you do, but this isn’t the place to begin your search because ironically the only reason that it’s not all black and white is because there’s also red.’
