Perky and Pinky, a new project by artist duo Robbins and Roberts at Hardwick Gallery, explores feminist themes and gender-specific symbols in a playfully anarchic manner. Working across various art practices, including drawing, video and performance, Robbins and Roberts present us with an absurd circus of the everyday. With references as diverse as Yves Klein’s Anthropometry paintings to 50s BBC programmes for children, from abject performing poodles to domestic drudgery, Perky and Pinky looks set to raise some eye-brows as well ask some serious questions about current gender dynamics.

Lorraine Robbins has undertaken residencies in the UK and Sweden and has exhibited widely both nationally and internationally. She is a Jerwood Drawing Open award winner as well as first prize winner in the Wimbledon studios Drawing Award, given on completion of an MA in FIne Art: Drawing(with distinction) at Wimbledon College of Art.

Soozy Roberts has shown work at SITE Festival (Stroud), Experimentica (Cardiff), Arnolfini (Bristol), Points d”Impact festival (Geneva), National REview of Live Art (Glasgow) and was winner of the Sir Leslie Joseph- Young Artist award 2008 (Swansea). Soozy is Course Leader for art and design at SGS Stroud School of Art and runs SVA’s young people’s art group, MOULD.
