Are you looking for support and advice in setting up and managing your arts project? Are you in need of some guidelines to help run an existing project?

This one-day seminar with Frances Lord enables artists and arts organisers to gain insight into the following three strands:

Running a successful project: making a strong proposal, identifying and responding to briefs, working within budgets, dealing with contracts, effective project management, time management and trouble shooting, copyright and other legal issues.
Multi-partner project working: self-initiated projects and creating your own brief – who in an ideal world might you collaborate with, and on what sort of project, how to negotiate multi-partner agendas and expectations and work to everyone’s strengths.
How to set up artist-led and temporary spaces: what is involved in legal and practical terms, how to respond to opportunities and negotiate roles and responsibilities to ensure successful outcomes.

Throughout all three strands, with a combination of facilitated and informal discussion, we will look at what sort of skills you need, how to match aspirations to budgets, and what constitutes good practice. Participants are welcome to bring an actual proposal or idea of a proposal to the session to discuss, but this is not essential.
