Following a successful exhibition held beneath Carlisle railway station last autumn, Rob Sara and Laura M R Harrison will once again be using an alternative space in which to display their art. This year’s event is being hosted by Warwick Mill Business Village located 5 miles east of Carlisle. By re-purposing spaces at the site Laura and Rob will be looking to embrace the community spirit that can be found at the Mill to create another memorable event.

Under the title Materialise Rob Sara and Laura M R Harrison will be presenting new photography and video works.

Laura M R Harrison will be showing a sequence of videos which have all been filmed during darkness hours at three different rural locations within Cumbria. Laura investigates water and darkness to explore notions of being psychologically lost and ways in which we might consider the unknown.

Through photography and moving image pieces, Rob Sara’s studies explore a personal relationship with the nature of both the everyday and the sublime. His work involves representations of the unseen and that which is often outside of the frame.

This exhibition represents the culmination of two years’ work carried out as part of the Masters programme in Contemporary Fine Art at the University of Cumbria.
