An exhibition of new work by David Bellingham MONUMENT will be presented at The Changing Room from 13 September – 4 October. The exhibition centres on a large collection of The Stirling Journal and Advertiser from 1850 to 1950 repositioned as a sculptural object. These dense documents of local history are shown alongside photographs and text-based work making reference to the 500th anniversary of the first book printed in Scotland.David Bellingham’s work takes many forms: from sculptures in galleries; visual poetry on swimming pool floats and café mugs; to books, pamphlets, cards and other printed material published by his imprint Wax366. With Wax366 he has also collaborated with other artists including Ian Hamilton Finlay, Jim Hamlyn, Roger Palmer and David Connearn. In his own work Bellingham uses found objects and appropriated contexts to offer a deceptively simple approach to the everyday.
