PIL Project is an online platform where meme is the mirror of a genuine digital attitude that has become a form of political and cultural behavior.
The digital residencies provide an online space for artists to develop works, ideas and practices. Six residencies will take place online between October – January, with each selected artist having one month to complete a proposed project along the theme of: Media Archaeology/ Zombie Media. Media archaeologists have challenged the rejection of history by modern media culture and theory alike by pointing out unnoticed continuities and ruptures.
Whilst in residence, DAR will be taken over through multi-format strategies bringing the possibility of an anachronistic approach to temporality and significance. The month of the residence will be the calendar to extract historical dates and relate them to memes as the start point for a mind map that will be reformulated in eight interventions.
PIL PROJECT is the product of a collaboration between Juan Crespo, Enrique Tutor and amaCollective. It consists of a website that takes the form of a virtual institution and is extended to off-line manifestations such as exhibitions, lectures or publications.
