PURE Autumn Art Fair 2018

HERE COME THE GIRLS….!

The Prestigious PURE Autumn Art Fair returns to the PowderMills Hotel, Battle, East Sussex between the 6 and 14 October and bearing in mind 2018 marks 100 years since the Representation of the People Act gave some women in Britain the right to vote for the first time, this years exhibitors have been selected by an all female panel of judges.

The PURE Autumn Art Fair is a selected art fair showcasing the brightest upcoming and more established talent from an international open entry. Curated by Lesley Samms, it features the work of approximately fifty artists working across all fine art media including painting, drawing, printmaking, digital art, photography, sculpture, ceramics and glass.

The PowderMills Hotel provides a stunning setting for the fair, nestling in some 150 acres of beautiful parklands, woods and large lakes, just outside the historic town of Battle, adjoining the famous Battlefield of 1066.

The Art Fair is open everyday between 11am and 6pm and 2018 exhibitors include well-known artists such as Simone Riley, current chair of Chalk Gallery, Lewes; Dani Humberstone current Vice President of the Society of Women Artists (SWA); Society of Graphic Fine Art artists Louisa Crispin, Vincent Matthews and guest artists Patsy Whiting SWA, Libbi Gooch and Cliff Howe.

Patsy Whiting produces exquisite and intimate still lives and figures, drawn on roughly textured pastel ground. The images are built up gradually in layers from detailed photographs, focussing on a small area at a time. Libbi Gooch on the other hand creates beautiful and dramatic, impressionistic seascapes and flower paintings based on emotion and memory. Cliff Howe is an experimental landscape painter, best known for his atmospheric watercolours.

For this 9th Edition PURE will also be placing a key focus on PRINT and as such are delighted to confirm that exhibiting alongside Brenda Hartill RE will be internationally collected artists and fellow members of the Royal Society of Painter Printmakers (RE), Mychael Barratt PPRE and Trevor Price RE.
