This month’s talk and discussion will be led by the members of Ruddy Cheek, centred on what it is to be an artist support group right now. Ruddy Cheek evolved from a Blue Monkey Network development group and have been meeting since May 2018 as a group of eight artists.

“We have continued to meet on Zoom through the thick and thin of the last couple of years. Almost 4 years later, here we are to share what the experience has been, how it is changing and where it is going. Recently we changed our name – realising the group has moved on and quite organically looking for an identity that defined our growth and potential for more.

As we develop, we are finding our feet as practitioners looking to exhibit together with a group identity that does not detract from our individual work. This is part of our process – finding connection that is not defined just by aesthetic and cultural norms but by a desire to practice and a different curatorial remit.

We will talk about how we work, the nature of the support we offer and find in the group and what keeps us coming back for more. Encouraging discussion to share ways in which we can all develop and support one another.”
